A Coach’s POV: The Benefits of A Regional Meeting
- By Brittany Spencer, Nexstar Business Coach
As a business coach at Nexstar, who was once a member, I often find myself fielding questions from members who are curious about my dual point of view. Sometimes, these members are seeking advice on where to allocate their time and resources for maximum business impact; sometimes, they’re interested in hearing about the broader experiences of other members navigating the constantly evolving landscape of the trades.
When it comes to allocating time for maximum business impact and hearing about other members’ experiences, there’s one thing I always recommend to people: I tell them to attend a Regional Meeting. A Regional Meeting is a gathering of Nexstar members that’s held at a member’s company. These meetings are designed to support members in a specific geographical region, but they’re open to all members, regardless of their location.
Recently, I had the opportunity to facilitate and attend a Regional Meeting hosted by the team at NH Ross in Middle Island, New York. It was a great one! It really hammered home some of the incredible benefits members receive when they attend Regional Meetings. These are:
An incredible opportunity for peer connection
The chance to engage with other members facing similar challenges and triumphs is profound. In-person interactions at Regional Meetings allow for the exchange of ideas, strategies, and experiences that can spark new approaches and solutions. Being a leader can feel isolating; finding a community of peers locally provides a support network of shared purpose.
Networking with others also helps a leader’s professional growth. Regional Meetings bring together a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds. The relationships built at these events often extend far beyond the event itself, providing a robust professional network.
The sharing of information
When you attend a Regional Meeting, you get updated on best practices shared by your peers and coaches alike. And this exchange isn’t just a one-way street! You’ll be involved in a dynamic dialogue where everyone learns from one another and contributes. These discussions often lead to innovative ideas that can be implemented back at your shop. Thinking back to the Regional with the NH Ross team, I’m reminded of the many organic conversations that happened. Members shared about how they’ve experienced growth through Daily Huddle adjustments, how they’ve enhanced their communication of daily goals and actions to their team, which best practices their dispatch team have used to maximize revenue, and more!
Shop tours
Shop tours are so exciting! For attendees, seeing firsthand how other members operate provides a wealth of practical insights and ideas. These tours offer a behind-the-scenes look at successful practices and innovative solutions in action. Observing different operational strategies and workflows can help you to organize improvements and efficiencies of your own.
Tangible inspiration
Hearing from others about their successes, struggles, and hard-won results is truly inspiring! Regional Meetings help remind us all of the higher purpose behind our work. They reaffirm our commitment to serving others and encourage us to continue to strive for excellence. Attending a Regional Meeting offers leaders a multifaceted opportunity for growth and development by fostering learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Don’t just take it from me, though – experience a Regional Meeting for yourself!
