Monthly Coach Highlight – Brad Summer, Implementation Coach
- By Elsa Chase, Digital Marketing Specialist
We sat down this month with Nexstar Implementation Coach Brad Summer to learn more about his background, the journey that brought him to Nexstar, and about some of the things that matter the most to him.
Q: Where and when did you get your start in the trades?
A: I started at Corley PAE in Greenville, SC in February of 2021. I was hired as the Lead Generation Manager to head our Home Depot and Costco campaigns. After six months, I accepted the role of HVAC Sales Manager. I also served on the leadership team!
Q: What brought you to Nexstar?
A: The shop I was in was (and still is!) a Nexstar member. A former coworker of mine had taken a job at Nexstar. The opportunity arose, so I went for it! The need to give back to an industry that had given me so much in such a short time was – and still is – what keeps me going.
Q: Is there someone who inspired your journey into the trades?
A: Me! I needed a change from my previous industry, and the opportunity to expand my horizons in the trades presented itself at the perfect time. I also can’t forget to mention that another friend who worked at Corley at the time introduced me to the opportunity and encouraged me to apply.
Q: What are some of the career milestones that have been important in guiding you to your role as a coach?
A: Leading my sales and install department to two record months over the summer of 2022 was a big one! We created a culture of doing what’s best for our employees, which was best for our customers. Aside from that, I also received an award for my leadership while helping refine our pricebook.
Q: What does your typical day look like as a coach?
A: Preparation is step one. I’m up by 3:30 AM (yes, I know!) to work out, eat, reserve some time for peace and thought, and then I review my day. Once the coaching calls begin, I bring as much energy as I can to keep spirits high, no matter what’s on the mind of my members. I also have consistent conversations with my fellow Nexstar coaches to keep my energy positive and high!
Q: What’s the best part of your job and why?
A: The success of our members. They put in the work and accomplish their goals. The thanks we receive as coaches is wonderful, but we are not who we are without our members.

Q: What’s your greatest superpower?
A: Building relationships and trust! I am blue on the color code, so when I meet a new member (or anyone for that matter), I like to take time to get to know them and learn all about them!
Q: What do you do to relax when you’re not at work?
A: Most of my time is absorbed by my children, Lucas and Olivia. We go to the park and play board games often. This season is busy, as Lucas is in his third season of little league baseball and Olivia is in her first season of softball. On the rare occasion I find time to myself, I like to play golf! I’m also at the gym at least five days a week.
Q: What are some of your passions?
A: Contributing whatever I can to help people become the best versions of themselves. Leaving a lasting positive impact on everyone I encounter is important to me, but I can only do that if I’m the best version of myself. Taking care of myself and being the best version of myself is vital.
